Another glorious sunny day as I look out on our back yard and enjoy the world coming alive this Spring.
As I see the plants and flowers bursting into life, I realize how connected I have always felt to the earth. I love to touch plants and flowers as I pass, and talk to them. I brings me peace and contentment to work in my garden. As much as possible, I love to go barefoot, much to my husband's chagrin. He's always telling me put on my shoes. But I figure it's easy enough to give my feet a good wash afterwards so I can enjoy the freedom of no shoes. And this is not a new phenomenon .... from the time I could walk ..... no shoes, please! Drove my mother nuts.
So, how does this flow into the topic for today? Simple. It's called THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING BAREFOOT.
I had a client recently who has a serious illness. He has approached it from a spiritual/metaphysical way for over 10 years. During his last visit he asked if I could connect with his Spirit Guide to see if he or she had anything additional to tell him that may help on his healing journey. As I tuned in, I saw the most magnificent, tall, etherial being who emanated such powerful loving energy that I felt instantly at peace.
The first thing he/she said (couldn't tell the gender as appearance was very androgynous), was that my client should walk with bare feet upon the earth. No explanation was given......just the directive. There were many other things that were mentioned, but this one stuck with me as I am the perpetual "bare foot contessa".
Anyway, my Guides know that I love to know WHY...... so, the next day, I am reading a great book called "The Brain That Changes Itself" and I realize the topic is scientific research that proves the importance of walking barefoot. Scientists have found that the soles of the feet are actually sensory input devices. When we walk barefoot, we are, in fact, sensing our world through our feet and building neural pathways in our brains about our environment. Huh! If we wear sensory deadening shoes all the time, our brains are deprived of this valuable input and we, literally, lose this "sole" contact with our environment. So, I was happy to KNOW why the Guide said to go unshod. And yet the lessons were not over. The following day I got an email from a friend with an attached video by David Wolfe (Longevity Now Program) and you can guess the topic of the video.....yup----importance of going barefoot! What a surprise! Wolfe noted that the earth's crust is covered with electrons and that when we walk barefoot we are grounding ourselves, which, being electrical beings, is important. As well, walking barefoot and interacting with the earth,(dirt, grass, sand, rock) we actually change the alkalinity of our bodies. So, by simply walking barefoot, our acidity decreases, which means a healthier internal environment with less chance of disease. Now, that's a benefit. One of the most interesting things Wolfe mentioned was that we can actually reset our circadian rhythm, rather like resetting a watch to Greenwich Mean Time. He travels thousands of miles a month, and whenever he goes to a new place, the first thing he does is remove his shoes and stand on the earth for 15 minutes to reset his inner clock to where he is located on the planet. And he claims that with this action, he never gets jet-lagged! Wow I'm all in for trying that one.
As I write this, I am reminded of a friend who has a daily practise of going out on her lawn, rain or shine, raising her arms to the sky and saying, "Good morning, God, I'm here for another day!" Seems her inner wisdom is right on.
Blessings to all, and happy barefoot wandering. Anita.

Well, here I am, a novice blogger, finally leaping into a new (to me) arena of technology. I'm a perpetual student in so many ways, but technology I usually leave to "the experts". So I thank my daughter in law for assisting me in my new endeavour. If I can do this, anyone can.
I've decided it is time for me to keep an on-going journal or record of what I'm discovering. I do this as much for me as for anyone else, so I have a written reference.
In my professional life, I am a Certified Counsellor and Master Clinical Hypnotherapist. As well, I have spent years studying various energy healing modalities and energy psychotherapies such as Hakomi, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki, EFT, TAT, Matrix Energetics, Quantum Healing, mediumship ..... some might say I'm a bit scattered ....and I might have agreed until I took yet another workshop on "Egyptian Numerology" where I learned that I am hard-wired to study many things, use the modalities and then teach them. Nice to finally understand that I'm following the correct life path for me and not simply being unclear as to an appropriate career path. Everything I have learned has been of benefit to myself and others in my practice.
Oh, and as well as courses and workshops, I love to read. My husband jokes that he has had to reinforce every house we have had to keep my laden bookshelves from tumbling it down. Because, not only do I read, but I keep all my books! ..... just in case, you understand.
Along the way, I get so many "Aha" moments. That's why I've decided to blog so I can share with you my thoughts, ideas, perceptions, revelations and the joy and passion of learning. Thanks for reading. See you again.
Cheers Anita.
